OnePlus is gearing up for its launch event on January 23, 2024. The company has confirmed the release of its next flagship “OnePlus 12,” both in India and globally. Adding to the excitement, OnePlus has also announced the launch of the “OnePlus 12R” on the same day. This new device is the successor to the OnePlus 11R and is expected to bring several notable enhancements.
A teaser image shared by OnePlus hints at substantial improvements in the OnePlus 12R compared to its predecessors. Early leaks suggest the device will be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC, the same chipset found in the OnePlus 11. Additionally, the OnePlus 12R is expected to showcase a significant design overhaul, featuring a curved display and a sleek glass sandwich design framed by metal.
The OnePlus 12R is rumored to be a rebranded version of the OnePlus Ace 3. In a departure from the OnePlus 11R, which was available in select markets, OnePlus has confirmed that the 12R will see a broader release, including in the EU and the US.
The latest leaks indicate the OnePlus 12R will boast a new 1.5K resolution OLED screen manufactured by BoE. It will reportedly come with at least 8 GB of RAM and 128 GB of internal storage. The device is also expected to feature an enhanced camera system, including a 50 MP primary sensor, an 8 MP ultra-wide-angle lens, and possibly a 32 MP telephoto lens.
Battery-wise, the OnePlus 12R is speculated to include a large 5,500 mAh battery with 100W fast charging. Unlike the OnePlus 12, the 12R may not offer wireless charging or an official IP rating. The smartphone is expected to run on Android 14 with OxygenOS 14 straight out of the box. Based on the leaks, the starting price for the device could be around Rs 40,000 for the base model.
