Nothing Phone (2a) Leak Hints at New Design and Mediatek Processor

Everyone is now talking about the latest leak about the Nothing Phone (2a), a budget-friendly smartphone from the Nothing company. A recent video sketch, shared by Android developer Dylan Roussel on Twitter/X, offers a sneak peek into the possible design of this much-anticipated device.

Contrasting with the original Nothing Phone, the Phone (2a) appears to have a new camera layout. The leaked sketch reveals a centered, horizontal camera module on the phone’s back, which houses two lenses. This design marks a departure from the aesthetic of Nothing’s previous models, indicating a fresh approach to the company’s lineup.

Further checking the credibility of this leak, another source on Twitter, who initially brought the Phone (2a) to light, shared an image of a prototype. This image displays the dual-camera setup, complemented by an LED light, signifying the Phone (2a) as a more wallet-friendly option in Nothing’s array of gadgets.

Interestingly, the camera is encircled by three Glyph LED light strips. Although these are smaller than those on the Phone (1) and Phone (2), they retain functionality for app notifications and integrations.

In terms of performance, the Phone (2a) is rumored to be powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 7200 SoC which is octa-core processor. This chip has two high-frequency Cortex-A715 cores at 2.8GHz and six Cortex-A510 cores, coupled with a Mali G610 MC4 GPU, ensuring smooth visual performance.

Adding one more thing to this coverage is that the Phone (2a) is referred to by the codename “Pacman,” aligning with Nothing’s tradition of naming their devices after classic video games. The Phone (1) was nicknamed “Spacewar,” and the Phone (2) was dubbed “Pong.”

The tech community is eagerly awaiting the official launch of the Nothing Phone (2a), anticipated to happen during the Mobile World Congress (MWC) in February 2024. Nothing has announced an event in Barcelona on February 27th, teasingly titled “Nothing to see,” which may well be the unveiling of the Phone (2a).
