Google Adjusts Pixel Monthly Updates to Flexible Dates

In recent years, Google rolled out security patches (along with the feature drops) for the Pixel devices on the First Monday of the month. Since the implementation of Google’s own Tensor Chipset in the Google Pixel devices, Google is not able to roll out update on the target day i.e. First Monday of the month. So, to get rid of this Google has announced in a post that from now the update day is not fixed with the Google Pixel 8 Series.

We also dug into how we can deliver the highest quality, best-tested updates to Pixel users on a consistent basis. As part of this effort, our security updates, bug fixes, and feature updates won’t roll out on a specific day each month. Instead, we’ll deploy updates as soon as they’ve completed the necessary tests to ensure they improve the experience for all Pixel customers.

In the announcement post for the Google Pixel 8 Series, Google highlighted the software support. Along with this Google has also mentioned about 7 years of Android and Software Updates for the Pixel 8 Series. Apart from this Google has also straightforwardly mentioned that they will now roll out updates for the Pixel Devices on a monthly basis when they are stable.

Google is now focusing on quality. So, the day or date for the update is not fixed to provide users with a more stable update. For now, Google has not mentioned if this is applicable for the Android updates or for the Security Patches. Google is the first smartphone manufacturer to provide 7 years of support in its Google Pixel 8 Series which can be longer than even the iPhone, as the iPhone provides Software Support for 5 years.
