Vivo iQOO 12 Spotted in Hands-On Images Set to Feature Dedicated Gaming Chip

The upcoming iQOO 12 series from Vivo is set to launch on November 7, and it’s already in the talks with its latest features and designs. The new series will include a periscope camera offering up to 100x zoom and unique “iQOO Q1 gaming chip“, as revealed by the brand. Now we have some hands-on images of the phone which gives a sneak peek at how it’s going to be.

What’s new with iQOO 12?

The iQOO 12 series will stand out especially with its Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset powering the Pro model. It’s still a mystery if the standard model will also have this chipset. The collaboration with BMW Motorsport still continues as seen in the official teaser which hints at exciting design elements.

Jia Jingdong Vice President at Vivo, shared insights about the new phones. He emphasized that iQOO’s foundation lies in online gaming, and the brand consistently focuses on high performance. The new iQOO Q1 gaming chip developed by Vivo, aims to improve the gaming experience but specifics about its features have not been disclosed yet.

Jingdong also mentioned that the chip would support features like “super image resolution” and “ultra-high refresh rate”. The phone itself is designed with a four-zone cooling system, ensuring it stays cool during intense gaming sessions.

Camera and Design

The iQOO 12 series is not just about performance which also brings significant improvements in photography. The top phone in this series is equipped with a large 1/1.3” main camera sensor. The ultrawide and telephoto lenses have also received substantial enhancements.

The series will feature two sets of designs one with flat sides and another with slightly curved edges. The white Legend variant will have BMW M branding along with a glass panel. There’s also a Black variant with a sandstone-like texture, reminiscent of the finish seen on vivo’s V23 and V25 models, and a striking red leather variant, likely vegan.

The Black variant shown in hands-on images reveals a unique look that’s different from typical glass panels but still distinct from plastic.

Software and Availability

Both phones in the iQOO 12 series will run on OriginOS 4 right from the start. As the launch date is coming near we are getting more information about these new devices from iQOO.
