Nothing Phone (1) gets May 2024 Security Patch with Nothing OS 2.5.5 Update

Nothing Phone (1) users can now download the latest Nothing OS 2.5.5 update. This update can be identified by its build number Spacewar-U2.5-240419-1617. The update size is 180 MB, and brings a lots of new features, improvements, and general fixes to enhance user experience.

It also brings the May 2024 Android security patch update to protect the Nothing Phone (1) from vulnerabilities.

The update includes integration with ChatGPT, providing new ways to interact with AI through voice and on-screen widgets. Users can start voice conversations using a new gesture option in the Nothing X app, compatible with Nothing Ear and Nothing Ear (a), with more devices expected to be added soon. The update also introduces ChatGPT widgets for quick access and a new button for pasting clipboard content directly into ChatGPT conversations.

In terms of customization, the update allows the Nothing Icon Pack to be applied only on the Home Screen for a clearer App Drawer view. Users can now move through Home Screen pages more intuitively while organizing apps and have new options for enabling or disabling the QuickSetting swipe-down on the lock screen. Additional customization is available for icons within the status bar.

The update also adds a RAM Booster feature, found under Settings > System, to enhance device performance.

The update brings smarter auto-brightness adjustments thanks to an AI-powered algorithm. It also reorders Quick Settings tiles for easier access and introduces new animations for these widgets to improve user interaction. Bluetooth toggling and volume settings have been optimized for faster and more intuitive responses.

This update also bring some fixes:

  • Wi-Fi connection stability has been improved.
  • Earbud volume now syncs correctly with the phone’s volume.
  • Audio switching issues between connected devices during calls have been addressed.
  • Screenshot and vibration feedback functionalities have been fixed.

  • Fixed an issue where screenshots did not display the frame or allow entry into the editor.
  • Resolved a rare problem causing a lack of vibration feedback when swiping sideways to go back on the screen.
