A new Google Pixel smartphone has caught everyone’s attention after being listed on the UL Demko certification site. Known by its model number GH2MB, this mysterious device is confirmed to have a 4942mAh battery, which is likely to be rounded up and marketed as a 5,000mAh battery.
Google has been busy with its lineup of phones, including the Pixel 8a, the Pixel 9 series, and the much-awaited Pixel Fold 2. While we’ve caught glimpses of the Pixel 8a through leaked packaging and seen renders of the Pixel 9 and Pixel 9 Pro, this new certification adds an exciting twist to the tale.
The battery size of the GH2MB model suggests it might belong to the flagship Pixel 9 series rather than the more budget-friendly Pixel 8a. The capacity fits what we’d expect from a high-end model, especially a Pro version. There’s also a chance this could be for the Pixel Fold 2, considering foldable phones need large batteries to support their screens.
However, the certification doesn’t clearly state which device this battery belongs to. We’ll have to wait for more details to emerge to know for sure.
In other Pixel news, a new Tensor chipset, possibly the Tensor G4, was spotted in a Geekbench listing. This new chip might be used in the upcoming Pixel 9 series and the Pixel Fold 2. Interestingly, the Geekbench details show an octa-core processor, a step down from the Tensor G3’s nine cores, and its performance appears slightly lower. This has sparked curiosity, as it could be an early engineering model or a strategic change by Google.
As more information surfaces, Pixel fans are eager to see what Google has in store with its next generation of smartphones.
