Google Messages for Android Gets Profile Discovery Feature

Google is releasing a new feature called “Profile Discovery” for its Google Messages. This feature will help you set your name and photo among all the message apps. It will help anyone who has your phone or email address to recognize you in various apps like Messages, Chat, Gmail, and Photos.

To use this feature with your smartphone you will need the latest beta version of Google Messages. The Profile Discovery feature is not available for everyone right now but it will be coming soon.

Whenever this feature appears on your device, it will ask you to set your Google profile where you need to choose a name and set a picture. You will also get to select some options for your name such as your first name, full name, or custom name along with your current profile avatar and letter with background.

After this, your name and photo will be saved in your Google Account along with your phone number. In the future, if you want to change them you can do it from Google Messages by going into Settings > Advanced > Profile Discovery.

Furthermore, this feature can be turned off if you don’t want to share your name and photo with anyone.
