OnePlus has finally officially shown the design of its upcoming flagship “OnePlus 12.”The design of the smartphone is quite similar to that of the OnePlus 11, with a circular camera island on the back. However, the company will introduce changes to improve gaming performance.
The above poster was posted on the company’s official Weibo account, and according to it the OnePlus 12 will be launching on December 5 in China. But previously, the company announced they were going to celebrate their 10th anniversary on December 4. So many assumed that the new flagship would be launched on the same day.
OnePlus is also known for its Alert slider, which is always positioned on the right side of its smartphones, but now it will be on the left side in the OnePlus 12. According to the company, this move is made to make space for a new integrated antenna that promises to boost gaming performance.
In a recent press release, OnePlus explained that their internal testing found the optimal position for gaming antennas is where the forefingers rest when the phone is held horizontally. The Alert Slider on the previous OnePlus 11 occupied this space. By shifting the slider to the left, the OnePlus 12 can accommodate more effective gaming antennas.
OnePlus is using what it describes as “ultra-compact full-band antenna technology” and an “industry-first Alert Slider antenna integration technology.” This approach aims to minimize the space taken by the Alert Slider, making the phone more efficient for gaming. Lab tests by OnePlus suggest that this change can improve gaming antenna signals by 3dB and reduce game latency by 15%.
OnePlus also stated that the OnePlus 12 would include a 3s periscope camera, supported by the “4th-gen Hasselblad Camera for Mobile.”
Previously, OnePlus also revealed the color variants of the OnePlus 12. It will be coming in Pale Green, Rock Black, and white. The phone will feature a nature-inspired design. One of the highlighted colors is “Flowy Emerald,” giving the device a distinctive look with its glass material.
The company may release another version of this phone, which will be named the OnePlus 12R. It is also expected that OnePlus will introduce the OnePlus Watch 2 at the event.
