OnePlus has introduced a new feature in its latest OxygenOS 14 Open Beta 4 that closely looks like the Dynamic Island feature which was popularized by Apple. The feature is currently unnamed for OnePlus devices but it integrates live activities into the status bar of OnePlus 11.
Dynamic Island-Like Feature in OnePlus 11
Unlike Dynamic Island on iPhones, which combines notifications and activities with the device notch, OnePlus’s version presents a minimalistic and interactive status bar.
We have observed that after starting certain applications like the clock or screen recording which gets integrated with the status bar. For example, setting a timer and then exiting the app keeps the timer visible and interactive in the status bar. A long press on the timer expands into a popup card, making it simpler to access the full app functions from anywhere in the system. Currently, the feature is seamlessly integrated with the clock and screen recording applications.
Although the feature is in the beta phase and cannot be disabled, future updates may allow users to toggle it on or off as needed. OnePlus has made strides in animation and transition smoothness, according to beta users, which enhances the overall experience.
In earlier beta releases, the dynamic feature was compatible with third-party apps like Zomato. However, it appears that this feature does not work with the latest OxygenOS 14 beta. This only works when place an order on the Zomato app. At the status bar, you can see the ‘Preparing Order’ option in the below image.
Finally, the company has brought this feature back in the latest OxygenOS 14 Beta for a better user experience. Let’s see when OnePlus will name this feature and give us settings to control it.
