Nothing Phone (1) to Get Android 14-based Nothing OS 2.5 Open Beta by Year End

In a recent announcement, Google confirmed the release of the much-anticipated Android 14 stable update for its Pixel phones. The tech giant has also made this source available to the AOSP project and promised to make the update available to Android partner phones soon.

On the same note, Carl Pei through his X profile (formerly Twitter) shared that Nothing OS 2.5 Open Beta 1 based on Android 14 will soon be available for Nothing Phone (1) users. Based on the words of the Nothing CEO, the new update which is built on Android 14, is confirmed to roll out for Phone (1) before this year concludes. This means that Phone (1) users can look forward to exploring major Android updates in the coming months.

Earlier in the year, Nothing launched the Android 13 based Nothing OS 2.0 update. Now, the focus is on the forthcoming Nothing OS 2.5 Open Beta 1, which is integrated with Android 14. It’s also worth noting that the Nothing Phone (1) was earlier to get an Android 14 developer preview in May 2023.

Features of Nothing OS 2.5 Open Beta

The Nothing company has already rolled out the Android 14 based Nothing OS 2.5 Open beta for its Nothing Phone (2). This new version brings with it a host of fresh features. Users can look forward to a unique monochrome colour theme, a redesigned Quick Settings layout, dedicated Nothing earbuds icons, distinct ringtone and notification sound volumes, as well as regional settings adjustments.

The Nothing OS 2.5 also brings a range of customization and upgrade options. These include a new Widgets library interface, a Photos widget, an improved Screenshot editor and menu, better back gestures, options to hide app icons on both the Home Screen and app drawer, the Three-finger swipe screenshot feature, extensive Home Screen and Lock Screen customizations, and a variety of solid colour wallpapers, among other additions.
