How to Use Glyph Progress on Nothing Phone (2)

Nothing released its Nothing OS 2.0 with the launch of Phone (2) which brought many changes to the overall UI and lots of customization. With Phone (2) and Nothing OS 2.0, you also get some exclusive Glyph features. The most interesting feature is Glyph Progress.

Nothing Glyph Progress Feature

The Glyph Interface is designed with Glyph lights on the back of the Nothing Phone to provide users with a new way of interaction and communication. It provides lots of information at a glance through a pattern of lights like incoming calls, battery level indicators, notifications with amazing sound, and light patterns specially tuned for it.

Glyph Progress is a feature that allows you to track progress in real-time through the Glyph lights while the phone is kept upside down. This uses real-time data from the particular app to track the progress and display it through LEDs on the back. The Glyph Progress of Nothing Phone (2) can be used to track food orders through Zomato and ride arrival through Uber.

How to enable Glyph Timer on Nothing Phone (2)

1. Go to Settings and then to Glyph Interface settings

Nothing Phone Settings

2. Scroll down in Glyph Interface settings and tap on Glyph Progress to open its settings. Then enable Glyph Progress for the apps you want to use, currently it is available for Uber, Zomato, and Google Calendar.

The Glyph Progress works in the following way for corresponding apps :

  • Zomato: When you place an order and put your phone down, the C-shaped 16 LED glyph light starts turning off LEDs as your order is on the way, and when the order arrives it blinks to show that the order has arrived.
  • Uber: With Uber when you book a ride and flip your phone, the glyph light blinks which means the ride is confirmed and later the LED strip indicates your ride arrival progress and eventually blinks to confirm that the ride has arrived.
  • Google Calendar: This is the latest addition to Glyph Progress with Nothing OS 2.5 Open beta 2. It works a bit different way as whenever your phone is screen side down and you have an event scheduled, it starts a progress timer 10 minutes before that event and blinks on the scheduled event time.

Glyph Progress processes notifications from enabled apps to provide an estimation of progress. You may encounter some reliability issues with Glyph Progress as it works with third-party app integration and is under active development. It works most effectively with apps that are set to English.

Similar to Glyph Timer, it is a great implementation of the Glyph Interface, and we can also expect implementation with more apps to track real-time progress with coming updates, which makes this a very useful feature. Glyph Progress is a combination of hardware and software-based features that cannot be achieved with the hardware present in Phone (1), thus it will never come to Phone (1) in the coming future through updates.
