How to Enable Screen Attention Feature in Nothing Phone (1) and Phone (2)

Screen Attention is a useful feature that prevents your screen from turning off if you are looking at it, so you don’t need to tap to wake it or unlock your smartphone. It was introduced by Google with the Pixel 4 and is currently available in both the Nothing Phone (1) and the Phone (2).

It uses the front camera of the smartphone to detect if someone is looking at the screen and doesn’t turn off the screen until you are looking at it. As per Google screen attention works well when the screen is well-lit but not in direct sunlight. Considering the user’s privacy and data, this feature is set to work on the device itself and none of the images are stored or sent to Google.

Steps to Enable Screen Attention Feature

  1. Open settings, scroll down to Display settings and then tap to open it.

2. Within display settings open screen timeout settings and then enable the screen attention feature.

After enabling screen attention, you can reduce the screen timeout, as now the screen will not turn off if you are looking at it. Also, reducing the screen timeout saves you some battery. This feature is very useful in many scenarios, like while reading websites, documents, or writing something from the smartphone. At that time, the phone turns off after a screen timeout, and you have to turn it on again which interrupts the workflow.
