Nothing Phone (1) Performance Test after Nothing OS 2.0.5 Update

Recently, Nothing Phone (1) received a Nothing OS 2.0.5 update which did not bring any major new features, although it brought the November 2023 security patch. Now let’s have a look at the performance, improvements, and bugs that this new update brings with it.

Nothing Phone (1) Performance after Nothing OS 2.0.5 Update

We performed Geekbench tests on our Nothing Phone (1) and found that it got scores of 1026 for single-core and 2818 for multi-core in the CPU benchmark. These scores were slightly lower than those of the previous version, Nothing OS 2.0.4.

However, in the GPU benchmark Phone (1) scored 2305 points, which is significantly higher than the previous version. It means that the performance of the GPU has improved to some extent.

We also performed a CPU throttling test so that we could see how the CPU performs when it is pushed harder. We ran the test for 15 minutes for 20 threads while the previous build showed the CPU throttling to 73% of its maximum performance and the newer OS 2.0.5 version throttled to 74%. Even the average GIPS score increased by 20000 points. This suggests that the phone can handle performance-intensive tasks without giving much dip in performance or heating up the device with the latest build.

After the latest update, the app opening speeds also feel faster, and the overall UI experience is better with no lags or frame drops. Even during intensive tasks like gaming and video shooting, the Phone (1) doesn’t heat up or drop in performance to some extent.
