Tata Group to Start Making iPhones in India, Confirms IT Minister

IT Minister Rajeev Chandrasekhar confirmed the news that Tata Group will soon be making iPhones in India via his X (formerly Twitter) post. IT Minister congratulated the Tata team for taking over Wistron operations and thanked them for their contributions.

IT minister disclosed that the company will just start making iPhones in India within 2-2.5 years for both Indian and global markets. Both Wistron and Tata will be signing important agreements. This move will reduce dependency on China and will be a big step towards making the ‘Made in India’ initiative stronger.

It is not yet confirmed if Tata will continue making iPhones in the Wistron plant or will move operations to its factory in Hosur, near Bengaluru. It is also disclosed that the deal is estimated to be $125 million.
