Google Play Store’s New Policy Demands Qualification Certification for App Listings

The Google Play Store is the most widely used app store in the world for smartphones. There are thousands of applications available to download directly from the store. Unfortunately, there has been an increase in the number of spam and fake apps in recent times. Google has finally addressed this issue by strengthening its policy for listing apps on the Play Store.

What’s the new policy for listing apps in the Google Play Store?

Google has just announced that the rules for listing apps on the Play Store will be changed. During the closed and beta phases, apps must now be tested by at least 20 people. Account qualification verification is also required for developers.

This means that if the account isn’t verified for its qualification and the apps have not been tested by the minimum number of people, then the developer won’t be able to list the apps inside the Google Play Store. The new rules aren’t very tight but it gets their job done, which is to stop listing spam and fake apps inside the store.

Developers can request a review and listing in the Play Store console’s Dashboard after completing the closed test and meeting the requirements. During the review, Google may ask about the closed test at random to determine the app’s functionality and completeness.

Google will also confirm the developer’s legal name, address, email, phone number, company size, bank account number, domain name, and other information. Developers can choose any date between November 8, 2023, and February 29, 2024, as the deadline for this certification. Developer rights will be revoked if certification is not obtained by the deadline, and any previously listed apps will be removed from the Play Store.
