Apple to Enable App Sideloading on iPhones by 2024

Apple iPhones are often classified as more “secure” smartphones by the masses. This is because iOS does not allow sideloading apps and has strong control over the privacy and security of the gadget. Regardless of whether this particular statement is a myth, it seems that the brand will soon allow its user to sideload applications on their iPhones. Yes, you heard it right.

iPhones will soon be able to sideload apps from third-party sources

There have been a lot of reports claiming that Apple will soon allow sideloading applications on their iPhones. This means users would be able to download and install apps from any third-party sources and use them.

However, things don’t seem to be going this seamlessly. Sources now believe that even though Apple will allow sideloading of the apps, this would be “highly controlled” and it would be quite a hefty task for users to download or sideload apps outside the official App Store.

After iOS 17.2, Apple may introduce a sideloading system. A common framework for “Managed App Distribution” in which the associated API provides basic controls for downloading, installing, and even updating applications from third-party sources. However, according to some reports this feature will be added to iPhones next month, rather than in the first half of 2024. So take this information with a grain of salt.
