Apple has recently released an iOS 17.2 update for all compatible iPhones, which brings new features to the weather and messages app and a new Journal App. The updates also bring some improvements and bug fixes.
Most of the new features added with iOS 17.2 are for all compatible iPhones but two of the features and improvements have been specifically added to the iPhone 15 Pro and 15 Pro Max models.
1. Spatial video recording
Apple has finally added spatial video recording support for the iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max. This video can be watched on the Apple Vision Pro which is yet to be released. You can relive the memories in 3D to have an immersive viewing experience on the Vision Pro, which is rumored to be released by March 2024.
To turn on spatial video capture go to Settings > Camera > Formats, then scroll down to Video capture and then toggle on the switch for Spatial Video for Apple Vision Pro. Then you can capture spatial videos in Video mode in the Camera app. Spatial video is shot at 30 frames per second at 1080p which takes approx. 135MB of storage for 1 minute of video.
2. Improved Telephoto Camera
Apple has improved the focusing speed of the Telephoto camera for the iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max when capturing small objects far away. Earlier, the focusing had some issues while capturing small objects at a distance and was a bit slow, which has been fixed with the latest update.
