When Meta introduced the Threads app at the start of July, many Instagram users quickly signed up for the new text-focused service, and in just five days, the user base had surpassed 100 million. Users soon found out that the only way to deactivate a Threads account was to deactivate their entire Instagram account.
Adam Mosseri, the head of Instagram stated that this restriction has been removed. Users can go to Settings > Account > Delete or Deactivate Profile to remove their Thread profile. You have the choice to either permanently delete your account or suspend it temporarily, as the name suggests. Your Instagram account won’t be affected in either situation.
Recently, Meta enhanced the way it displays Threads posts. As a result, they are now visible on Facebook and other Meta platforms. The second update that became public today lets you restrict this, go to Settings > Privacy to do so. Keep in mind that Instagram will still show your Threads posts and this only impacts Facebook.
