Samsung One UI 8.5 Beta Update: Rollout Timeline, New Features and Eligible Devices

Samsung One UI 8.5 beta update is shaping up to be one of the most anticipated software releases for Galaxy users, thanks to a refined interface and a series of meaningful upgrades. According to recent leaks, Samsung will begin rolling out the beta in phases, starting December 8 for the first wave of users. The second phase, which includes major markets like India and Poland, is expected to kick off on December 22. A new test build for the Galaxy S25 series has also surfaced on Samsung’s servers, indicating that the company is preparing for a wider release.

The public version of One UI 8.5 is expected to arrive next year alongside the Galaxy S26 series. This update is set to introduce several functional improvements. Users can expect Pro camera presets that can be shared across devices, a Network Battery Saver mode designed to extend standby time, and a new Priority Notifications system. Samsung is also reportedly shifting the search bar to the bottom in many native apps for easier accessibility.

Visually, One UI 8.5 brings a fresh design approach with 3D app icons and three new lockscreen clock styles. However, the biggest highlight is the redesigned quick settings panel, which now offers greater customisation by allowing users to rearrange individual toggles to fit their usage habits.

If Samsung follows its usual update strategy, One UI 8.5 should be available for all devices eligible for One UI 8. This means every Galaxy S series device launched in 2022 or later, along with mid-range and foldable models released from 2023 onwards, will likely receive the update. This includes the Galaxy S25 lineup, S24 series, S23 series, S22 series, multiple Galaxy Z Fold and Z Flip models, and a wide range of Galaxy A, M, F and Tab series devices.
