Samsung continues to expand its One UI 6 beta program to its foldable devices. After the recent roll-out for the Galaxy Z Fold5 and Z Flip5, the company is now extending the beta testing to its older foldable devices, the Galaxy Z Fold4 and Galaxy Z Flip4. Interestingly, the beta firmware has also been made available to the mid-range Galaxy F23, demonstrating Samsung’s commitment to a wide range of devices. These updates are currently live for users in South Korea.
One UI 6 based on Android 14 comes packed with several improvements and new features. Users will see a redesigned Quick Settings panel and artificial intelligence-driven tools in the Gallery, like the Photo Remaster and Object Eraser. The newly introduced Samsung Studio provides a sophisticated multi-layer video editing platform, allowing users to enrich their video content by adding text, stickers, and music. Additionally, new camera widgets have been incorporated, allowing users to launch the camera app in their desired mode, be it the front or back camera, photo, video, pro, night mode, and so forth.
The software also introduces subtle yet essential changes to multitasking. For instance, if you have a pop-up window active and access Recent apps, the window remains open, letting you seamlessly resume your work. Moreover, the drag and drop capability has been enhanced, particularly beneficial for the Folds’ expansive internal display, as it permits users to move items using both hands.
Despite these exciting developments, there’s still uncertainty around the availability of the One UI 6 beta for the Galaxy Z Fold5 and Z Flip5 outside Korea. The previous updates were exclusive to users in the US and India, hinting at Samsung’s cautious approach to the global rollout.
The Galaxy F23, closely mirroring the Galaxy M23 available in India, saw its Android 13 update last December. Given their identical hardware specifications, expectations are high for an imminent update for the M23 variant.
For those who want to try out the One UI 6 beta, it’s recommended to download the Samsung Members app, which is essential for enrolling in the One UI Beta Program. As soon as the beta is available in your region, you’ll receive a notification through the app. However, for a hassle-free experience, some might prefer to bypass the beta stage and directly opt for the stable release when it’s out.
