Samsung Galaxy S21 Support Ends: What This Means for Users

Samsung Galaxy S21 support ends as the company has officially removed the Galaxy S21 lineup from its software update schedule, marking a significant change for owners of the flagship series. After more than five years of support since its January 2021 launch, Samsung has concluded routine software and security updates for the Galaxy S21, Galaxy S21+, and Galaxy S21 Ultra.

Samsung Galaxy S21 Support Ends Officially in 2026

Samsung originally committed to delivering four major Android upgrades and five years of security updates for the Galaxy S21 series. Throughout its lifecycle, the S21 models received Android releases from Android 11 through Android 15, with One UI 7 being the final major software update.

However, with the release of the February 2026 security update schedule, the Galaxy S21 devices no longer appear on Samsung’s official support pages for regular updates. This removal indicates that these devices will no longer receive official security patches or Android version updates under the regular update cadence.

Security and Performance Implications

Without ongoing security patches, Galaxy S21 owners face increased risks as software vulnerabilities remain unpatched. While critical fixes could still be issued in rare cases, routine monthly or quarterly updates have stopped. This diminishes protection against emerging threats and could gradually affect app compatibility over time.

What Happens Next for S21 Users

The series will still function normally, but users are encouraged to consider upgrading to a newer Samsung model that receives comprehensive software support, including extended security updates and ongoing Android version upgrades. Modern Samsung flagships now come with up to seven years of software support, a significant leap compared to the Galaxy S21’s support lifespan.

One Exception to the Rule

Notably, the Samsung Galaxy S21 EF, a later, fan-edition release, continues to receive updates, albeit on a quarterly schedule, thanks to its later launch date. This model is expected to see updates for a longer period compared to the original S21 phones.
