OnePlus is gearing up to launch OxygenOS 15, which promises to bring a host of exciting features to the OnePlus 12 series. The much-anticipated update is expected to debut after China’s October holidays, likely on October 8th. Users are encouraged to check the beta program in the software updates section to catch early glimpses.
The new OxygenOS 15 is set to enhance user experience significantly. One of the major updates includes extensive lock screen customization options. Users will be able to add depth effects, similar to those seen on iPhones, customize clock styles, and even display a step counter. The customization extends to changing the color palette, fonts, and clock styles, along with a new ‘flux theme’ that offers various presets for further personalization.
In a nod to efficiency and aesthetic updates, the quick settings tile and control center are completely redesigned. The new design features a separate notification shade and options to customize the quick setting tiles, enhancing user accessibility and control.
A notable addition is the Dynamic Island feature, which now supports multiple apps—a significant upgrade from iOS 18’s version. This feature will allow for more dynamic interaction with apps and notifications.
OxygenOS 15 will also introduce several AI-driven features, including the anticipated Google’s Gemini AI. Additionally, the update includes a video battery-saver feature designed to optimize battery life during video playback without compromising video quality, though its impact on video quality remains to be seen.
Security features get a boost with the theft detection lock, which utilizes AI to detect potential theft scenarios. Initially available in China, its global release details are still under wraps.
The visual delight continues with a revamped charging animation that includes effects like a wave pattern when the charging cable is inserted. Also, the ‘system core’ setting will provide detailed insights into GPU, CPU usage, RAM consumption, device temperature, and the Trinity engine detail module.
Expect aesthetic tweaks with two new icon styles named ‘Radiance’ and ‘Shadow,’ and changes to the settings page for a streamlined experience. The parallel drawing architecture from ColorOS 15 will also make its way to OxygenOS, allowing multiple applications to respond simultaneously without interruptions.
OxygenOS 15 is not just about aesthetic and functional upgrades; it also integrates closely with Android 15’s features, such as app pairing in split screen mode, cooling down notifications to manage alert volumes, and an app archive feature for managing unused apps.
With all these features lined up, OxygenOS 15 is ready to dramatically enhance the OnePlus user experience. Users eagerly await the open beta release in October, followed by a general release in December. Stay tuned for more updates as OnePlus innovates and enhances its software offerings.
