OnePlus recently released the OxygenOS 14.1 August update for OnePlus Nord 3 and OnePlus Nord CE 4 users. But this update brought some fixed problems to both devices, which is very frustrating for the users.
Due to this update, previously fixed issues of heating, throttling, and battery drain on the OnePlus Nord 3 have returned. The new 1GB update, meant to improve system security and stability, rolled back these improvements.
Software Details
This update brings the August 2024 Android security patch to both devices for better protection from the latest threats. Other than the enhanced three-finger swipe screenshot, no new major features have been introduced in this update. Notably, we have seen that the throttling starts in less than 15 minutes in the CPU throttling test, which is really very bad as compared to the software stability of this device.
Performance and Battery Impacts
Benchmark tests conducted before and after the update indicate very small to no performance improvement at all. In some results, increased throttling with higher temperatures reaching 44 degrees Celsius have been shown. Gaming performance has visibly suffered with a loss in frames per second that goes further on to prove a drop in the device’s capability.
Advice to Users
Keeping these issues in mind, it is advisable for the users of OnePlus Nord 3 and Nord CE 4 to avoid this new build until these highly critical performance issues are sorted. These regressions should be addressed at the earliest by OnePlus, especially because the OnePlus Nord 3 has gained a high reputation among the people looking for a reliable smartphone.
Wait for Further Updates
For those who have already updated and are facing these problems, it might just be best to wait for OnePlus to respond in some future update or patch.
