OnePlus September Update Rolls Out to Most Devices, New Features for OnePlus 11 and 12 Series

OnePlus has started rolling out its September 2025 software update to almost all of its smartphones, including the OnePlus 10 Pro, OnePlus 11 series, OnePlus 12 series, OnePlus 13 series, and even devices from the Nord series. However, some older devices like the OnePlus Nord 3, Nord 4, and the standard OnePlus 10 series did not receive all the new features introduced on the newer models.

Update Details and Installation

For the OnePlus 11, the latest build is 15.0.0.860, which includes the September 2025 security patch and comes with an update size of 860 MB. Users can install the update via the software update section, or join the beta program to access the release candidate version if it’s not yet available via OTA.

Key Features in the Update

While some changes are minor, the update adds a few notable features under “Delight in Details”:

  • A new Map album in the Photos app organizes your pictures by location. Users can allow location permissions and see how many photos were taken at each place.
  • Users can now change the privacy password directly from secondary pages in the Private Safe and from the Photos app, making it easier to manage private albums.
  • Phone Manager now lets users view daily and weekly screen time for apps.
  • Layer 2 animations for live alerts and notifications have been improved, although these changes are subtle.
  • The update also integrates the September 2025 security patch for enhanced device security.

Some of the features mentioned in the changelog, like restoring private photos to their original location, were already available in previous builds.

Exciting News: Oxygen OS 16 Open Beta

OnePlus has also hinted at Oxygen OS 16, based on Android 16, for devices like the OnePlus 13 and 13s. The first open beta build, 16.0.0.232, includes the October security patch and may be released this week. Users are advised to back up their devices before installing the open beta.

This September update brings improvements to most OnePlus smartphones, while Oxygen OS 16 promises a bigger upgrade for newer devices.
