OnePlus, a well-known smartphone company from China made headlines when it appeared to offer chargers and other items for free on its official website. Some shoppers were quick to place their orders, but now there’s a twist. The company is scrapping these orders. Instead, they are providing those buyers with a Rs 800 voucher. This information comes from a tech enthusiast who is also a tipster, Mukul Sharma.
Sharma, active on a platform known as X (previously named Twitter), uses the name @stufflistings. He revealed a letter he got. In it, OnePlus said they were canceling his order for a 30W wireless charger. A mistake in the listed price on their site. As a way to say sorry, they gave him an Rs 800 discount coupon.
The letter to Sharma said: “We are sorry to tell you we must cancel your order for the OnePlus 30W Wireless Charger. The price was wrong on our site. We are really sorry about this. To make up for it, we will give you an Rs 800 coupon. You can use it when you buy accessories that cost Rs 1,500 or more. We will add this coupon to your account.”
People online have shared their thoughts about this. One person wrote, “Big mistake made.” Another commented, “Those who ordered got an Rs 800 gain.” Someone else said, “What a great way to get sales.” Yet another mentioned that OnePlus is “sending out covers and screen protectors.”
To give more details, the charger that started all this was listed for Rs 0 on the website. Its original price was Rs 3,990. It was also reported that it was up for this price for several hours. By the time they found out, it was already sold out. Right now, the charger is priced at Rs 3,490. It’s white and can wirelessly charge phones fast, up to 30W. It also has a Bedtime Mode and can detect foreign items. Plus, it keeps the phone safe from too much heat and sudden changes in power.
In another update, a cover for the OnePlus Nord CE 2 phone is still shown as Rs 0 on the website. Even though it’s not available, you can see it in two colors: Blue Vacation and Black.
