OnePlus is rolling out a crucial update for users who rely on the OnePlus Photos app for cloud synchronization. Starting October 16, 2023, the HeyTap Cloud service will stop syncing “Photos” data. This means any new pictures or videos taken will no longer be uploaded to the cloud for backup.
Existing “Photos” data stored in the cloud is set for deletion on May 7, 2024. OnePlus is requesting users to download their photos and videos to their devices as soon as possible to prevent those memories. The changes were shown in the new in-app update, with a message alerting users of the upcoming changes.

For users seeking to download their data, the process is straightforward. Open the Photos app on your OnePlus device, which should be running the latest version 14.11.1, and follow the prompt to download your photos. Alternatively, users can access the HeyTap Cloud website, where they can view and download their data directly.

This update has appeared on devices like the OnePlus 11 running on OxygenOS 14 Open Beta 4, based on the latest Android 14.
OnePlus also apologized for the inconvenience this change might cause. The company has not yet provided information on alternative backup solutions post HeyTap Cloud’s discontinuation. Users relying on cloud services to safeguard their photos and videos should consider other cloud storage options or ensure regular manual backups to a personal computer or external storage device.

With the end of cloud backups for the OnePlus Photos app, now is the time for users to save their digital memories before the May 2024 deadline.
