Recently, Nothing released a new update for Nothing Phone (2) which is Nothing OS 2.0.4 and it’s still based on Android 13, though Phone (2) already received the first beta of Nothing OS 2.5 based on Android 14. If you wish to try it out, here is the guide to install it. With this new update of Nothing OS 2.0.4 there are no improvements in the camera segment, and it also claims to fix some bugs.

This new update also brings some addons to Nothing Phone (2), like a new set of Photos widgets, new hide app feature, and an October 2023 security patch to enhance the security of Nothing Phone (2).
However, we did notice some performance issues with this latest build on Phone (2). We generally perform benchmark tests after every build to see how the device performs with newer updates, though these benchmarks are just numbers and can vary depending on many environmental and other factors too.
As said before, we did not find any improvements in the performance part as we compared the benchmarks with previous updates. Using the GeekBench application previously, Nothing Phone (2) scored 1725 in single-core and a multi-core device scored 4482. Which are slightly higher than this new update.
Later, we also performed a test using the CPU throttle app on the previous update. The max CPU had throttled up to 58%, but in this update, the max CPU throttled up to 64%. The CPU throttle test was performed with 100 threads up to 30 minutes. Check out the below screenshots.
