Nothing OS 2.5 Open Beta Downgrades Netflix Playback Resolution Full HD to SD on Phone (2)

It has been two weeks, Nothing OS 2.5 Open Beta 1 was released for the Nothing Phone (2). Since the update release, I have faced many bugs and issues on my device. It was obvious that the update would have many bugs, but I found an interesting thing on the Netflix app.

After the update, Phone (2) doesn’t support Full HD playback on Netflix. The maximum playback resolution is now SD (Standard Definition). When I checked in the App settings on Netflix, the Widevine certification was L3 instead of L1. So this was the main reason for the lower playback resolution.

Meanwhile, OxygenOS 14 Open Beta 3 running on the OnePlus 11 has Full HD playback on Netflix along with HDR10. So OnePlus has the upper hand in giving a good update by providing more features compared to Nothing. The Nothing team has not implemented the code for the L1 Widevine certification in the Nothing OS 2.5 Open Beta 1. But don’t worry, it won’t happen in the stable version of Nothing OS 2.5.

For now, we can only get SD resolution playback while watching movies and series on Netflix if you are on Nothing OS 2.5 Open Beta 1 on Phone (2).
