iPhone Fold: Apple’s First Crease-Free Foldable Tipped for $2,400 Launch

iPhone Fold rumours are gaining momentum as new reports suggest Apple is finally preparing to enter the foldable smartphone segment with a premium, crease-free design. According to a machine-translated Economic Daily report, Foxconn has set up a dedicated production line specifically for Apple’s first foldable iPhone, indicating that the device has moved from experimental testing to pre-mass production.

Apple is known for taking its time with emerging technologies, but the iPhone Fold appears to be positioned as a major reinvention rather than a catch-up attempt. The device is expected to feature a book-style design with a 7.8-inch internal display and a 5.5-inch external screen. Samsung will reportedly supply the foldable panel, while Apple handles the hinge, structural engineering and lamination process. The hinge is said to utilise liquid metal components, improving long-term durability while maintaining a refined feel in the hand.

Internally, the iPhone Fold may carry four cameras, including two 48MP rear sensors and dedicated shooters for both inner and outer displays. Apple may incorporate Touch ID to avoid including duplicate Face ID hardware on both sides.

Pricing is shaping up to be a major talking point. Current leaks indicate a launch price of around $2,400 to $2,500, making it Apple’s most expensive smartphone to date and positioning it above most foldable Android competitors. With production accelerating, industry sources suggest Apple could unveil the iPhone Fold as early as next year.
