The update size was 4.03 GB for the iPhone 15 Pro Max and it almost took 10 minutes for the installation. So naturally, this means significant changes from the previous version.
What’s New in iOS 18?

Apple has added more options for customization of the lock screen. One can easily change shortcuts by long pressing on the lock screen, tap on custom, then go on to choose the desired shortcuts. It also brings a feature to set applications directly from the lock screen.
Home screen:
Finally, icons can be moved around and made bigger or smaller for widgets. Creating widgets directly from apps is now possible as well and goes toward highly customized user experiences.
Improved Control Center:
The control center has been redesigned and users are allowed to resize and even organize quick-setting tiles. The new version has paved the way for so much functionality that the control center has been left to maintain, allowing users to handle and change the way they want it in terms of arrangement and the additional controls as they may desire.
But it also brought improvement in the flashlight that can be controlled and is now allowed to change the brightness of the flashlight and its direction. And there is the very subtle squeeze animation at the edges of the iPhone’s screen for improved haptic feedback when a volume button is pressed.
New App Features:
The Phone app now features T9 dialing, while call recording is still absent and will be included in the future releases. Apple has also introduced the feature of hiding apps with access only via Face ID or a passcode.
Camera and Photos Improvements
The Camera app finally gets the pause and resume on video recording, which users have requested for some time, and Photos receives a redesigned interface with options to customize and reorder the view, and a new filtering option improves photo management.
Other notable additions include:
- Password App For managing passwords, including WiFi passwords and passkey.
- Messaging is enhanced with the ability to include effects on messages, schedule when to send them, and access a wider emoji library to be used
- Calculator introduces math notes which automatically computes written equations while containing conversion units.
- Safari has been made to feature an option to hide distracting items on websites, thereby streamlining the browsing.
