Nothing released its Nothing OS 2.0 with the launch of Phone (2) which brought many changes to the overall UI and lots of customization. With Phone (2) and Nothing OS 2.0, you also get some exclusive Glyph features, which are Glyph Timer and Glyph Progress.
Nothing Glyph Timer Feature
The Glyph Interface is designed with Glyph lights on the back of the Nothing Phone to provide users with a new way of interaction and communication. It provides lots of information at a glance through a pattern of lights like incoming calls, battery level indicators, notifications with amazing sound, and light patterns specially tuned for it.
Glyph Timer is an implementation of a countdown timer using the LED in Glyph lights. It prevents you from looking at the screen for a timer and focusing on your main job while still having a glance at the time remaining. It’s a combination of hardware and software implementation of a section of the Glyph interface with 16 LEDs to present real-time progress in time through lights.
How to enable Glyph Timer on Nothing Phone (2)
- Go to Settings and then to Glyph Interface settings
2. Then tap on Glyph Timer to open its settings, and further tap on Set Glyph Timer using the rotary time selector to set a time for the timer or choose from the given presets of Timer. You can also create a preset using the icon on the left of presets.
3. Then place your phone face down to get started. The timer starts, and the LEDs keep turning off with the timer. At the end of the timer, it rings and lights up the whole Glyph section. You can also silence this timer end alarm through the Glyph timer settings page
Recently, with the Nothing OS 2.5 open beta 2 update, Nothing made some changes to the Glyph Timer. Earlier, you could add a Glyph timer to HomeScreen or LockScreen through the quick settings widget and use it by long press and hold, but after the update now with just tapping you can enable it, and the Glyph Timer pop-up window appears.
Also, with the latest update, you can directly open the Glyph timer from the lock screen through lock screen widgets or lock screen shortcuts without unlocking your phone and set a timer from there itself. With the open beta 2 update, you can also set the double-press power button to start the glyph timer.
The Glyph Timer is an exclusive feature of the Phone (2), as it requires different hardware, which is not present in the Phone (1). It is an amazing feature for those who use timers for their study session, cooking, work sessions, or just want to focus on their work for a specific period without being distracted from notifications and other things while still being on track on time.
